Zha and Soroke Swim to Multiple Personal Bests at Canadian Swimming Championships Soroke takes home gold!
Delta Sungod swimmers Max Zha (15) and Rebecca Soroke (14) had outstanding swims this past week at the Speedo Canadian Swimming Championships in Scarborough, Ontario. The meet, which ran August 1 through 6 brought together some of the best swimmers in the country to compete.
For the swimmers it was a great way to culminate the 2022-23 season as both athletes walked away with some personal best times and some hardware.
Zha broke the club’s 15 & over 200 fly Long Course club record along with 2 personal best times.
Soroke broke the club’s 13-14 year old girls’ Long Course 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 50 butterfly and 100 butterfly. She won gold in the 50 butterfly, 7th in the 50 free and 7th in the 100 butterfly.
This was a great learning experience for both athletes. Competing as a small group in a large event always has its own challenges, and the two athletes did a great job of rising to the occasion. Championship meets also allow for some great learning opportunities between athlete and coach.
The club is looking forward to a month off with no distractions, and will resume the week of September 11th.
