Great Start to 2022-23 Season With Great Results at South Surrey Swim Meet

The Delta Sungod Swim Club brought 33 athletes to its first meet of the 2022-23 season. The meet, hosted in South Surrey at Grandview Heights Pool saw five athletes achieve 100% personal bests over the weekend and two athletes win overall aggregate prizes.

Over the past 4 weeks coaches have done a lot of teaching during practices. They’ve set new expectations, and have asked athletes to make some substantial changes to their swimming strokes. The meet was a perfect, low stress environment to test how well they had learned. With the Canadian swim season being almost 48 weeks long for some athletes, it is a long process, with so many opportunities for athletes to improve.

Aggregate winners for the weekend had the fastest times added up in the 100 Free, 100 Breast, 100 Back, 100 Butterfly and 200 IM. Those swimmers won 100$ in gift cards. For the Delta Sungod Swim Club aggregate winners were Chloe Meredith-Jensen (16) and Rebecca Soroke (13).

Swimmers who achieved 100% personal bests (with no disqualificiations) over the course of the weekend were: Abdulrahman Alhassan (14) Mia Bruneau (10), Sammy Fouda (14), Lucas Jamias (17), Olivia Siemens (13), Gabrielle Wang (12).
