From the Desk of the Head Coach Year End Message

October 11, 2023

Hey Parents,

The 2022-23 season is a wrap!  This year, the credit for your child’s swimming is in huge part to your hard work.   For all your volunteering, 5am drives, commitments to three-day swim meets; on behalf of myself and the coaching staff, thank you!  It was a privilege to work with you all in pursuit of your children’s goals.

At the end of the day, our goal is to create great people and great Delta citizens, and we do this through the avenue of sport.  The sacrifice of time, effort, and emotion by every member in our club continues to make Delta Sungod Swim Club a great place to grow up.

I would like to extend my utmost appreciation to this season’s Board of Directors.  This season our board has been actively creating policies and procedures that allow for the smooth operation of our club, managing the extra events that make this club feel like a family, and all our other volunteer initiatives.  Thank you to Gurinder Sangha (Club President), Wojociech Apanowicz (Vice President), Jessica Jensen (Treasurer), Helena Meng Huiyi (Volunteer Co-Ordinator), Kam Rai (Officials Director), Rachel Li (Equipment Manager), Gavin Wang (Secretary), and our newest additions Laura Deeg (Member at Large), Ravneet Johal (Member at Large) and Andrew Lee (Member at Large).

This season’s coaching staff was amazing!  The care given to all our athletes, the investment in their programs and the great camaraderie make this one of the best coaching staffs to work with in the entire province.  Thank you to Coach Erin Taylor, Coach Cliff Noth, Coach Cory Bullock, Coach Holly Friesen and Coach Kirra Trites.  You all are awesome!

DSSC’s 2023-24 season starts September 11th.  Registration is open, and our assessments for next season will be September 6-7 from 5:00-7:00pm at Sungod Recreation.  Your referrals of family and friends to the club is always appreciated.

Enjoy your time off this summer, have a safe and restful holiday, and take the time to notice the growth that your children have made as both athletes and people.  I hope the changes you’ve seen impress you as much as it has impressed me.

Thank you for the privilege of allowing me to work with your children!
Yours in Swimming,
KURT

PS.  Delta athletes also swam freakin’ fast!
