February swimmer of the month

March 6, 2024

Thanks for everyone for the exciting energy we had in the month of February! It was another jam packed month with meets... Vancouver-Fraser Valley winter divisional championships, PSW winter invitational and our own hosted Fun meet which we had 105 swimmers at! WOOHOO!!!!

The coaches are excited to announce.....

Swimmer of the month for February

Learn to compete: Jayden Villacorta

Congratulations to Jayden V on his consistent hard working during practices. Jayden has improved over 30 seconds in his 100 IM over the month. It's been really awesome to watch this hard work pay off!

Novice: Theo Wong

Theo has really stepped up in practice lately and has been working on achieving his LMR qualifying time! Theo achieved his LMR time at our February fun meet, with nearly a 20 second best time in his 200m IM!

Regional: Nobel Chauhan

Nobel has improved in many ways over February, the biggest being her focus in practice. This has led to a huge improvement in speed and technique which she was able to showcase during our February fun meet.

Junior Blue & White: Ariyana Dhesi

This month swimmers in the Junior groups have been all about training metrics.  Paces, stroke counts and overall speed.  As a coaching staff, the Junior group coaches have been looking for swimmers who have made significant jumps in their performance metrics (ie. Going faster in practice during pace sets).

This month Ariyana Dhesi has made some huge gains in her 400 freestyle pace work.  It has been amazing to watch this swimmer go from averaging 1:40’s to 1:28’s consistently over 16 repetitions and we are super excited to see how these practice efforts move her towards the competition times she is searching for.

Congratulations Ariyana on all your hard work.  At the end of the day, a single fast training effort doesn’t move swimmers towards their desired outcomes.  More so, sustained efforts over longer sets, over the course of a swimmer’s training cycle will get them to where they need to be.  Ariyana has put in that work.

Way to go Ariyana!!!

Senior White: Anushka Biswal

Congratulations to Anushka! Her effort and attitude this season has been fantastic. Since she has moved up into Senior White I have seen her work hard and fully commit each practice. She always applies any feedback to her work during practice and is respectful to all her teammates. Keep it up!

Senior Blue & Gold: Madelyn Paredes Troughton

For her change in effort level in practice, attention to detail and seeing results at Divisionals. Nice job, Madelyn!
